The Pasar Agung route generally starts around midnight and takes approximately 4-6 hours toward the upper sections, while the Besakih route involves a longer and more demanding ascent.

As dawn approaches, reach your sunrise viewpoint and enjoy a hot tea or coffee while waiting for the first light to appear over Bali’s mountains and surrounding landscape.

After sunrise, begin the descent with your guide. The journey back allows you to experience the forest and volcanic scenery in daylight before returning to the starting point.

Once the trek is complete, your private driver will take you back to your hotel.

Trekking Routes

Via Pasar Agung Temple

Starting from the southern slopes of Mount Agung, this route provides access to the mountain’s upper peaks and is generally the shorter of the two main routes. The source describes the highest accessible point on this route at around 3,044 meters, with the ascent taking approximately 5-6 hours depending on the route and conditions.

Via Besakih Temple

The Besakih route begins near Besakih Temple and follows a more demanding trail toward Mount Agung’s highest summit. This route starts at approximately 1,250 meters and requires a local guide or ranger due to the difficulty of the terrain.
